Louis Vuitton for the first time featured an Asian face, Godfrey Gao, a 26-year-old Taiwanese-Canadian model who has also acted in a number of TV serials in Taiwan, as their Men's Spring Summer 2011 ad campaign's model
The first released image of the ad campaign shows Gao sporting the newest LV Damier Graphite Elvis messenger bag. LV is explicitly aiming to market to the Asian population for the first time. Asians have a voracious appetite for luxury brands, especially in China, where Louis Vuitton and other high-end fashion retailers have opened stores.
